⧪ Monday,29 April Project-Based Learning    I have ca me across this term many times but only now that I am reading more  about it I can understand what does it mean and how helpful it is for both, the teacher and the students. It is powerful for tracking growth for students and teachers.    This approach is the one that transforms lessons into real life scenarios by engaging students but it also requires a lot of time.  Before incorporating PBL in our classroom,we,as future teachers need to make sure that we have a full understanding of this teaching method.I would like to remind all of you that do not have a clear information yet. PBL is not about projects, it is about the material and the concepts learned through the projects. It is not just giving the students the course material and then doing a group project but PBL is using that project to teach the material. Here I would like to present you some things that teachers must do while using this ap...
⧪ Monday, 22 April  Flipped Classroom The only thing I keep hearing this semester is online; online learning, online lectures, online discussion. The previous class we came across a new term, "Flipped Classroom", a new approach of learning by watching a video. To be honest I have never before heard it and I had no idea what was meant by flipping classroom and I was like Flipping whattt?? When our teacher told us that we were going to be part of an online class,I had no idea how this strategy works but it sounded great and interesting. It was something new in fact, we watched a video and we were supposed to give our personal refection summarized in 5 sentences.Teacher gave us time to watch it and then we did the follow up work with the teacher providing help and guidance as needed. I think watching the video took a long even though it was not too long, but 5 minutes of video turned into more than one hour work to take note and review. It felt like a lot of work because...

⧪  Sunday, 14 April           Constructivism and cooperative learning     While searching on internet , I suddenly came up with the idea of constructivism in a quote written by Ernst von Glasersfeld   "... to assess the truth of your knowledge you would have to know what you come to know before you come to know it." I struggled with the quote for some time but now, after reading the lecture, I understand what he was trying to say and thought about this in relation to my own teaching practice.    Constructivism is a theory which argues that knowledge is not something that can be passed from one mind to another but something that is built from experiencing it.As future teachers we need to encourage our students to understand through experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences. By doing this we transform them from a passive recipient of information to an active participant in the learning process.Our...

Multiple intelligences and multimedia  Have you ever thought about your intelligence? Who is an intelligent person according to you? What skills do I have to possess in order to be called an intelligent person?     To be honest I have never thought about all this, nor have I discussed such things. Never before had I heard of Garner's theory on multiple intelligences but it is very interesting to know that all human beings have multiple intelligences, 9 total, each of them located in different areas. Garner's theory is considered somehow different and his multiple intelligences theory challenged traditional beliefs in the fields of education and cognitive science. Contrary to the traditional view of intelligence, multiple intelligence approach underlines the idea that each person has a unique combination of intelligences and that the teachers will teach a...
