Flipped Classroom
The only thing I keep hearing this semester is online; online learning, online lectures, online discussion. The previous class we came across a new term, "Flipped Classroom", a new approach of learning by watching a video. To be honest I have never before heard it and I had no idea what was meant by flipping classroom and I was like Flipping whattt??
When our teacher told us that we were going to be part of an online class,I had no idea how this strategy works but it sounded great and interesting. It was something new in fact, we watched a video and we were supposed to give our personal refection summarized in 5 sentences.Teacher gave us time to watch it and then we did the follow up work with the teacher providing help and guidance as needed. I think watching the video took a long even though it was not too long, but 5 minutes of video turned into more than one hour work to take note and review. It felt like a lot of work because, lets be honest; most of us watched it at least twice before writing those 5 sentences.
I think we did something new and exciting, something different, but to be honest some of us hate change. We fear the unknown.
Flipping your classroom will not make teaching easier, but lets hope for making it better.

ReplyDeleteI would like to ask you,in the future as a teacher what are you going to do?
Will your students be given the opportunity of this teaching method or you will be continuing teaching without the online process?
I like your reflection and I think that's really useful using the flipped classroom.I think that the students will like it and will feel comfortable using this new method because we live in the world of technology ,and everything related to it it's trendy.
ReplyDeleteYou summarized all we did last week and I'm sure this was a new thing for all which taught us something.However i do agree with the fact that bringing changes is a struggle beacuse we fear the unknown and we are not sure if this changes will be good or not for our class.NIce work though,Arjet!
ReplyDeleteYour post seems to be very original because I can really perceive your point of view throughout it.It's true that we fear changes because we never know about the final results.However,a good teacher always tries to bring changes to his students and understand which is the one that works best.Considering to flip classes is one of those changes.You have brought us a good example of what does it mean to flip classes.Well done!

Changes because are something new ,unkown to us we step and fear its results.
