Project-Based Learning
I have came across this term many times but only now that I am reading more about it I can understand what does it mean and how helpful it is for both, the teacher and the students. It is powerful for tracking growth for students and teachers.
This approach is the one that transforms lessons into real life scenarios by engaging students but it also requires a lot of time. Before incorporating PBL in our classroom,we,as future teachers need to make sure that we have a full understanding of this teaching method.I would like to remind all of you that do not have a clear information yet. PBL is not about projects, it is about the material and the concepts learned through the projects. It is not just giving the students the course material and then doing a group project but PBL is using that project to teach the material.
Here I would like to present you some things that teachers must do while using this approach.
First of all it is suggested to begin with the end in mind. It takes time and is a challenge for students coming up with ways to present their information. Secondly is important to help our students develop questions. What I mean by this is that we should be there to facilitate learning and guide our students toward answers. They search for answers to their own questions and try to discover what the project is all about. And the last thing is to help students present, publish and perform their work. Only now they are able to analyze each other's work.
I think that by using this approach in my class students are going to have the opportunity to think about what they want to study, creating an essential question, a question that can be answered not only through the process of gathering information but also through reflection on their work.As I mentioned previously, they reflect on what they discovered in their research and at the same time they are going to give me the opportunity to learn from and about them.PBL is used as a way to create a guide for themselves during the process. My students are obliged to offer some reasons for which they have chosen the topic and writing down ideas and brainstorming allows them to really think through their topic and then to look back over the progress they have made.
I feel more than ready to try out this approach. I am sure that I will be glad when I'll see my students growth in time management skills as well as developing their critical thinking, collaboration and communication abilities.
Please feel free to ask me any question!
Thank you in advance✔

Your post is clear and very well organized. Thank you for clarifying us what is PBL exactly. I Like the idea that you have mentioned how you are going to use this approach to your students . Congratulation !
ReplyDeletei really like reading such posts bc everything is inlcuded and in an organized way. yes, PBL is more than a given project. we have to evaluate their work by giving feedbacks and helping them anytime. ps, u seem to be rly into applying that approach. congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's good to read that you had previous knowledge on this approach.Your post has a good organization and it's very informative taking into account all the steps you have provided for a teacher when using PBL.I do agree with you that this approach transforms lessons into real life scenarios.Good job!
