Hi everyone!
Today I would like to reflect on group work, a method which is very helpful and very common.This semester we had a lot of presentations to do and most of them were in group just to prepare us for the teaching process.To develop group skills, students need to do more than just complete group tasks. In fact it is very important to reflect on both the processes and products of group work. We have the opportunity to apply what we have learnt through our reflection to future tasks to improve our learning.
I would like to get focused mostly on the benefits because the opportunity to work with others, rather than on your own, can provide distinct benefits. First of all, groups that work well together can achieve much more than individuals working on their own. A broader range of skills can be applied to practical activities and sharing and discussing ideas can play a vital role in deepening our understanding of a particular subject area.
Secondly, being part of a team will help you develop your interpersonal skills such as speaking and listening as well as team working skills such as leadership and working with and motivating others. Some of these skills will be useful throughout our academic career.
Thirdly, collaborating with others will help identify your own strength and weakness. Enhanced self-awareness will both help you approach to learning and will be invaluable when you come to write you CV.
To sum up the term refers to a collaboration of researchers working on new activities. A working group's performance is made up of the individual results of all its individual members. That is why I am eager to use this kind of method during my teaching process to help my students understand what are their difficulties and try to fix them

i am into this method too,it is more than worthy to give it a try. at the same time they can help and learn from one another. personally,i love it when our teachers are about to give instructions when pairing up into groups. it is excited :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post because of the benefits of group work that u have actually listed.I found the interpersonal skills as the most beneficial of all because they are the ones u need even when u are outside the classroom.

I like the idea of sharing with us this topic because it is very helpful to keep in mind organizing our students in groups because they can do more together than alone . Your post is well organized . You have mentioned all the reason why we should do some activities of using group work .
ReplyDeleteGroup work is an important aspect of education since it gives you a taste of what is to come. However there are some things that we should bear in mind when group working. The most important thing is to be organised otherwise it will be a waste of time.
